The latest Employee Engagement<\/b><\/strong> report from Gallup landed, and what it tells us, I think is quite sobering…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Global employee engagement<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0has now fallen for the second\u00a0consecutive year, sitting at just 20%. In Australia, we are at 21% (down 2 points).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That means 4 in every 5 people going to work every day are either switched off or actively miserable \u2639<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Four in five. Let that sit for a moment.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

D<\/b><\/strong>isengagement <\/b><\/strong>is not just a number on a report. It has a face.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is the person who used to bounce ideas around in meetings and now sits quietly, avoiding eye contact.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The one who used to stay back without being asked, who now watches the clock.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The enthusiastic new hire<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0whose energy slowly drains away because nobody noticed what they needed.<\/p>\n

Disengagement does not arrive loudly. It creeps in.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

It looks like missed deadlines, it feels like a team that stops celebrating wins, and\u00a0sounds like silence where there used to be conversation.<\/p>\n

There is an old saying, “A\u00a0fish rots from the head<\/b><\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Culture is not built from the bottom up. It flows from the top down. And the Gallup findings make this impossible to ignore, revealing.<\/p>\n

The sharpest decline was not among employees. It was among managers, down nine percentage points since 2022.<\/p>\n

When the people<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0leading the team <\/b><\/strong>stop believing<\/b><\/strong>, it seeps into the culture until disengagement becomes the new normal<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
