As an owner, manager\u00a0or supervisor\u00a0do you find yourself consistently providing answers to questions and solutions to problems\u00a0for your team or being the go-to fixer for your team?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is a very normal leadership instinct\u00a0after all, right? After all, that\u2019s the job\u2026 or is it?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What if it\u2019s the wrong approach?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What if the outcome is the exact opposite of what you\u2019re trying to achieve?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Countless studies show this \u201crescuer syndrome\u201d is actually dysfunctional and tends to stifle growth, creates dependency, and leaves you and your <\/b><\/strong>team burnt out<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The upside is it makes you look good and sets you up as being indispensable, but perhaps you really just enjoy \u201crescuing\u201d.\u00a0 After all, who doesn\u2019t enjoy the \u201csmartest person in the room\u201d feeling?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how you can break the cycle<\/b><\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Consider a recent client of mine, Patrick (not his real name), a senior manager overwhelmed by a seemingly endless stream of tactical decisions.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He was brilliant but felt swamped by requests and stuck in a cycle of reactivity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We didn’t give him a new framework\u00a0or a step-by-step plan.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instead, starting with a GPI Leadership Assessment followed by a Leadership Coaching program, we helped him heighten his awareness and explore how he might be contributing to the situation.<\/p>\n
